old news & new toys

the old news
sunday night, as i lay all tucked under the warm covers and with mor standing beside me offering to heat up the bean bag (for the unmentionable womanly troubles), we felt a rumble and heard a big thunderclap sound. the doors slammed shut, the floor shook, the windows rattled. we thought we'd experienced a tremor or mini earthquake; perhaps there was a sonic boom? we immediately called upon our indisputable information source: ksl.com. it was not an earthquake or even a little tremor. the steel plant on the border of our town and the next had exploded. or imploded. whichever. and the force of it was felt miles away. plumes of black smoke littered the sky above the plant and drifted outward and upward. scary. (a couple of workers were even life-flighted to the burn/trauma center. really scary.) mor's favorite part of the event was that he got to use the phrase "sonic boom." really, though, how often do we get to offer that as a logical explanation? not often enough, he says.
the new toys
mor took it upon himself to rid our home of internet access by discarding his ancient (ie 4yr old) mac book. this was done without my consent or knowledge. he made it up to me, though, by picking out a darling new black mac book. it's so cute! matte finish. updated programs, like photo booth (see demo below). perfectly spaced keys. i LOVE it!!! this is what it looks like...

we also got new phone covers. mor opted for the plain old black one. i got this one...

it's vair cute and fun. although, i'm thinking i'll be tired of it by next thursday. (don't tell mor.) maybe i'll go for this one...

next thing you know, i'll be skinnin' bers and makin' m'own turkey jerky.
that's the news for now. will keep you posted on any other late-breaking updates.
oh and here is the photo booth demo:

our penelope is so majestic, don't you agree?
