saturday, saturday, SATurday

(isn't there a song that says that? maybe? no? well, who asked you?)
we had quite an eventful saturday, all considering. we woke up, got dressed, picked up treats for the car (the all caramel milky ways are all right, although the original is still my fave), and headed up to the zoo. it was a beautiful day, gorgeous even. except for all the pollen and tree fuzzies that were flying around. ah-choo! it was really cool to be there pretty early in the day too; most of the animals were up and about, making rounds before settling into a nice shady spot for the hot afternoon.
around 6p, we headed over to see mor's mission president and his family. i've met his wife on numerous occasions (mostly at costco, no joke), but this was my first time meeting pres sorber and two of their sons (they have 5!), andrew and tommy. they are a wonderful family. and they really like finn. pres sorber scooped finn up and took him to see all of their plants in the amazing herb garden in the backyard. (preposition, anyone?) sis sorber served up some fresh berries and her own yogurt concoction (she uses half regular yogurt and half greek yogurt because there is twice as much protein in greek yogurt; she's clever like that) and it was delicious. we listened to stories of tommy's mission in trinidad and tobago, and finn would have danced the night away with drew strumming on the mandolin in the background. it was so nice to be in a family home, if that makes any sense. we got to visit with them for a couple hours before making our way to c.grif's reception. his new wife looked AMAZING, and he looked the exact way i remember him from four years ago, "like a twelve year old," mor says. ha! (i cannot believe it's been that long since we've seen each other. time flies when you're getting old.) the other griffin boys hadn't changed either, unless you count joe having 3 KIDS as "changed," which i suppose you could/should, and josh being a certified real-life attorney. it was really good to see all of them. really good. congrats, c and ally grif.
now, mor and i are taking a load off, trying to stay cool in our swamp-cooled ughpt, relaxing after a full day of fun and old friends.
